Hobby Robotics Make'n'Take Session

Build your own fully autonomous robot at BarCamp!! If you'd like to get a hands on and guided introduction to hobby robotics, this is your session. We'll assemble, solder and program a fully autonomous robot that follows a line optically. The robot's constituent parts are very flexible and very expandable so you'll wind up with a great platform for all sorts of robotic experiments.

Introduction to Hobby Robotics

If you've seen BattleBots, the DARPA Grand Challenge, the DARPA Urban Challenge, FIRST or IGVC and lamented the fact that ones needs to be a student or have lots of money and free time to participate, then this session is for you. I'll introduce attendees to the essence and joy of building autonomous hobby robots as well as the hobby robot communities available for individual participation locally and across the world. We'll briefly review the myriad of skills, techniques and parts one encounters in robotics, many of which are the same as found in the aforementioned 'large' robotics events.
